This hall needed something very light and stylised
to go with the chandelier and mirror (below).
Both suggested some kind of arching shape, in this
case tree ferns.
The mirror frame comes from inside an upright piano
and is made of cast iron but it has been gilded in dutch metal
over a violet base colour. The metal was distressed to allow the
colour to "grin" through. The mural is executed in three
tints of violet. The dragon flies are in a stonger violet with
gilding and irridescent medium on the wings.
